MEET THE BALLOT PANELISTS

Dr. Joelle Abramowitz is an Assistant Research Scientist at the Survey Research Center at the University of
Michigan's Institute for Social Research and Co-Director of the Michigan Federal Statistical Research Data
Center. She completed her Ph.D. in Economics in 2013 at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Abramowitz's research examines the effects of different policies and environmental factors on individuals’ major life decisions and wellbeing, including on health insurance and medical out-of-pocket expenditures as well as bigger picture effects on outcomes such as marriage, fertility, work, and mortality

Linda Goler Blount, MPH, is the President and CEO of the Black Women’s Health Imperative, the only
national organization focused on Black women’s emotional, physical and financial health. Since joining the organization in 2014, Ms. Blount has overseen more than $20 million invested in Black women and research
to prevent chronic disease and HIV, ensure reproductive justice and healthy maternal outcomes, and
advocate for health promoting policies. Ms. Blount, an epidemiologist, edited IndexUS, the first research on
Black women’s health based on healthy Black women. Her career includes successful tenures at CDC, the
Coca-Cola Company and consulting with health ministries in countries in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean

Dr. Heather Carter is Executive Vice President with Greater Phoenix Leadership, with a special focus on Arizona’s health sector and P-20 education. Prior to this role, Dr. Carter served 10 years in the Arizona State Legislature and held a variety of faculty and leadership roles with Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. Heather graduated from ASU with a degree in communication. She then completed a master’s degree in educational technology at ASU and earned a doctorate degree in education leadership from NAU.

Over 30+ years, Linda has invested in public and private life science companies as an institutional investor,
a corporate M&A executive, a hedge fund analyst, and a private venture investor; she's held roles at
companies including Essex Investment Management, Bank of America Securities, Novartis Diagnostics,
Applied Biosystems (sold to Life Technologies Corp.) as well as at venture-backed life science companies
such as VitaPath Genetics, Singulex, Raindance Technologies (sold to Bio-Rad), and Linkage Biosciences
(sold to Thermo Fisher). Her areas of expertise includes finance, operations, and mergers and acquisitions
and, within the life sciences specifically, diagnostics, genomics, healthcare services, and life science tools.
In 2019, she co-founded Avestria Ventures, which invests in early-stage women's health and female-led life
science ventures.

Mitzi Krockover, M.D., is a leader in the area of women’s health and women’s issues. As CEO and founder of Woman Centered, LLC, she launched the Beyond the Paper Gown podcast, which aims to inform, inspire and engage women to achieve optimal health. She is also a Managing Director of Golden Seeds, an angel investment organization dedicated to funding early-stage women-led companies; she serves as co-chair of the Golden Seeds Health Care Sector Group.

Previously, Dr. Krockover was the founding Medical Director of the Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center, designated a Center of Excellence by the Department of Health and Human Services. As Vice President of Women’s Health for Humana Inc., she was the company’s chief healthcare strategist and spokesperson for women’s health. 

Dr. Krockover serves as President of the Institute for Mental Health Research and on the Black Women’s Health Imperative board. She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Women’s Health Initiative of Springboard, an accelerator for entrepreneurial life science and technology companies led by women.

Karen E. Joynt Maddox, MD, MPH is a cardiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, an Associate Professor and
director of the Center for Health Services and Policy Research at Washington University School of Medicine,
and co-director of the Center for Health Economics and Policy at Washington University’s Institute for Public
Health. Dr. Joynt Maddox is a health services and health policy researcher with expertise in quality and
outcomes measurement, value-based and alternative payment models, and health equity. She has authored
over 250 peer-reviewed publications, and has received federal and foundation grants focused on issues in
health policy. She served from 2014-2016 as Senior Advisor in the Office of Health Policy in the United
States Department of Health and Human Services. She is the Associate Editor for health policy at the
Journal of the American Medical Association, and serves on committees related to quality measurement
and payment reform with the National Quality Forum, American College of Cardiology, and American Heart
Association.

Regina Davis Moss is the associate executive director of the American Public Health Association. She oversees a broad portfolio of programs addressing the social determinants of health and has nearly 20 years of experience managing national health promotion initiatives addressing women’s health, health equity, and public health system capacity building. Formerly, Dr. Davis Moss held a senior management position for a chronic disease prevention effort for the National Institute of Health. Prior to that, she worked for the Kaiser Family Foundation where she helped launch the Kaiser Health News online information service and served as the senior producer. Dr. Davis Moss came to Kaiser after serving as a supervisor for an epidemiologic study focused on women’s reproductive health. She also served as a public health service fellow in the Office on Women’s Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Davis Moss earned her Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Maryland, College Park; M.P.H. from George Washington University; B.S. from Howard University, and certificate in public health performance improvement from the University of Minnesota.

Delphine is recognized as one of the few and foremost attorneys specializing in women’s health, a health law subject matter expert and a leader of Goodwin's groundbreaking Women's Health & Wellness Industry practice. She represents founders, health companies and investors. Delphine is a thought leader, global speaker and lectures at Columbia Law School on the business of health and the law.

Liz Powell, Esq., MPH Liz is Founder of G2G Consulting, which has raised $423 million in government funding for clients, shaped regulations and policies, and organized advocacy campaigns and events since 2007. Previously she served as Legislative Director for Congressman Langevin and Congresswoman Millender-McDonald in DC, Congressional and presidential campaign staff, Public Affairs Manager and lobbyist for a national association focused on substance abuse, President of the Women’s Information Network, and Policy Analyst for the UK Parliament’s Health Committee. She co-founded the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health Alumni DC Chapter, helped launch the Women’s Health Innovation Coalition, and was awarded Woman Entrepreneur of the Year. She earned her MPH from Harvard, JD from George Washington, and BA from Colgate.

Dr. Nicole Scott is the Director of the IU School of Medicine OB-GYN Residency Training Program. She
graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a Bachelors in Science and University of Illinois
College of Medicine in 2009. She completed her OB-GYN residency in 2013 at Indiana University. Dr. Scott
joined the teaching faculty after graduation. She directs surgical training for medical students and
residents and is a supportive learner advocate. Her expertise is in gynecologic surgery and the use of
simulation in medical education. As program director, she coordinates the family planning experience for
resident physicians. Indiana was the first state to draft and enact restrictive abortion legislation. Dr. Scott
and her educational team have been coordinating alternative out of state training options and navigating a
post-Dobbs world within graduate medical education.

Dr. Sharma received her Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from McGill University, in Montréal, Québec. From 2004-2011 and she was a postdoctoral fellow and instructor at Harvard Medical School. She was appointed as an instructor at La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) in 2011, assistant professor in 2013
and associate professor in 2019. The Sharma laboratory studies how the immune system’s “first responder”
cells play a role in shaping protective immunity in cancer or harmful inflammation in autoimmunity, with a
specific focus on human immunology. LJI recently launched the Sex-Based Differences in the Immune
System Initiative, to bring the full breadth and depth of their expertise to understanding key differences
between the immune responses in male and female individuals. Dr. Sharma leads this initiative at LJI. She is
studying sex-specific differences in early-onset dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, and has uncovered a
specific group of bioactive lipids that show up in dramatically different levels in men and women with
Alzheimer’s. These bioactive lipids, a unique and poorly understood class of signaling molecules, may
explain sex-specific differences in how men and women develop Alzheimer’s, heart disease, COVID-19 or
autoimmune vasculitis.

Kim Templeton, MD is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is also past-president of the American Medical Women's Association and started and continues to lead the
group's wellbeing initiative.
