April 2023 Volume 11

Mitzi's Message

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to reflect on stress's impact on our lives and find ways to manage it. As women, we often juggle multiple responsibilities, including work, family, and personal obligations, which can lead to increased stress levels. Therefore, we must prioritize our well-being and find ways to reduce stress in our daily lives.

Self-care is one way to take action to reduce stress. By taking steps to care for ourselves, we reinforce the message that, as the commercial says, we are worth it. And it's a great message to model for our children as well. It's about putting your oxygen mask on before helping others put on theirs.

Our newest podcasts illustrate some ways we can incorporate self-care into our lives. For example, exercise is a great stress reliever and essential to our overall health. In addition, caring for our skin can provide confidence and help us better reflect how we feel on the inside. We also talked with the author of a book literally called Taking Care of You, which is filled with wonderful recommendations on lifestyle activities that can promote well-being, reduce stress, and more.

I also invite you to check out some of our previous podcasts on mindfulness and using music to change our mood

Stress is a part of life, but it doesn't have to control our lives. Everyone feels overwhelmed at one time or another, so if that’s the case, reaching out to a mental health professional is an important consideration. If you are in crisis, call 988 for immediate help or go to the Suicide and Crisis Hotline to learn more.

Let's make stress awareness a priority this month and beyond.

Wishing you the best of health,

Mitzi Krockover, MD
